What We Believe
There might be lots of little gods that people choose to worship, but we believe there is only one true God. And we believe the best way to get to know Him is to get to know Jesus.
Jesus is one part of God, one way of understanding Him. Jesus said that He is like water that satisfies your thirst forever. And just like water comes in solid, liquid and vapor forms, God shows Himself to us in different ways: Father God, Jesus (God in flesh) and Holy Spirit. It’s easier for us to understand Him that way.
God is holy, pure and righteous. There is nothing evil or ugly in Him. He wants all of creation to be beautiful and work perfectly together. That is His end goal.
Jesus understands that sometimes we are evil and ugly, but He loves us anyway. He promises that wherever there is darkness in our lives that He can transform it into light and make it beautiful. Jesus lived a life of love in action.
Holy Spirit is the voice of God, speaking to each of us in ways we understand. Sometimes He corrects us, but always it is in love. Some people call Him conscience, but He is more than that. He is also teacher and instructor and translator.
Being part of a group of people called ‘church’ is not necessary for people to know God’s love. But God Himself said that being part of a ‘community of believers’ is important so that we can learn more about helping Him with His goal to bring all the world into harmony. The more we know God, the more light is in our lives and the more we can affect the darkness.
And, ultimately, as our lives change for the better we learn to become love in action, just like Jesus. Now there’s a goal for life!
“The space in my mind is too small for You
The space in my heart is too small for You too
And all of the things of the earth that I’ve known
Are too small for all of the greatness You’ve shown
But in all of this I’m still facing my needs
And I’m scared of how big they feel to me…(but) I know You…are big enough to hold me.”
